RIO - REAL TIME ORCHESTRA

RIO - Real Time Orchestra is a dance improvisation collective founded in Helsinki in 2003. It was born as a research group on instant composition and has later evolved into a cutting edge performance ensemble.
The group has performed over the years in several occasions, in theaters and galleries, collaborating with video artists, choreographers and musicians (for example Amsterdam based, world famous clarinetist Michael Moore or the Helsinki based freejazz orchestra Peloton).

The latest adventure is the "RIO tulee Kylään" ("RIO drops in") series, where RIO members visit ready made performances for a friendly incursion.
The work of the group has in general been received with surprise and enthusiasm and the group wants to continue to push borders and reinvent dance in the 21 century.
