Riikka Theresa Innanen
is a Finnish dancer and choreographer working also with installations, film and visual arts. With Luíss she plays the space with her body, movement, voice, objects and light.

Riikka Theresa Innanen
Graduated from School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in 1997 after which she has been working both as an artist and as a teacher with in dance and video around Europe.
Throughout her career, she has been supported in Finland by Kiasma - Finnish National Museum of Modern Art, Zodiak – Center for New Dance, Kokoteatteri, Samuel Huber's Arts Foundation, including Artist Bursary from the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland / Svenska Kulturfonden and other foundations and events in Holland, Italy, France, China, Denmark and Ireland.
Influential collaborations include working with: Luíss, Daghda Dance Company (Michael Klien, Steven Valk, Ellen Kilsgaard, and mathematician Alexic Clancy), Outi Yli-Viikari, Helinä Rautavaara Museum, Giorgio Convertito , Soile Lahdenperä, Leena Rouhiainen, Jouni Tauriainen, Liisa Pentti, Improvisation group Rio - Real Time Orchestra, Helsinki Research Center for Reality and Risto Santavuori, Oblivia group, Eileen Standley, Scott deLahunta, Susan Rethorst, Julyen Hamilton.
Through dance and choreography, she is interested in researching how we interact and create realities on physical, mental and spiritual levels, deal with the invisible, unknown or mysterious, and in contributing to the community by creating meaningful platforms of interactions and experiences out of the ordinary. June- Improvisation group Luíss: Residency at Hotel Pupik, Austria creating on a film and performance based on dance and music improvisation with musician Ingrid Schmolinder, Elena Kakaliagou and Matthias Erian.
July: GVA Sessions, Studio 44 Geneva, Switzerland. Meeting of composers and choreographers led by Gilles Jobin, Marlon Solano Barroso and Christian Vogel. During the meeting working on new ideas such as creating a choreography "A Choreography for a Musicologist" for musicologist Adam Harper and sound score for NUMBER.
2010-2011
Riikka has been working on her group choreography NUMBER in collaboration with the Irish mathematician Alexis Clancy, with ANIMA, an eco-choreography commissioned by dancer Outi Yli-Viikari, Tunnel of the Eye, a Greek-Danish-Finnish collaboration with dance and music and as a dancer and video artist for Soile Lahdenperä on her doctorate research based on applications Alexander Technique in Improvisation.
Other recents Resent Choreographic work include duet A Walk in the Forest with Giorgio Convertito and solos Guardian of the Body, A Hero Nearing the End of an Illusion and Sessions of a Seismograph. Solo Passato and group work While Riding the Path, I looked up; a Bird, were both shown and supported by Zodiak Center for New Dance.
In 2008- 2009 she spent a year at Daghdha Company in Limerick, Ireland surrounded by a collective of artists and creative synergy while creating several works during her Artistic Residency.
Besides her artistic work she has been curating and organizing events such as Side Step- festival (since 2001- 2009), been a part of Z- score choreographer collective, co-organized Z-open open forum for performances and curated several video compilations shown domestically and internationally. Additionally she has collaborated with Helinä Rautavaara Museum in Espoo, Finland creating project for special groups and communities. She has created several video and installation work and since 1997 she’s been teaching editing, camera and composition (most extensively at the Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK) and Outokumpu Dance Education). Her teaching includes also sharing her personal approach and in-depth knowledge in Somatic body training by teaching in various places and constellations.
